Title Energy aware independent directional localization in mobile sensor networks: a novel approach
Authors Mr. Aquil M. Mohammed, International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, India
Prof. Rama Garimella, , ,
Abstract Passive localization is an important and challenging issue in Mobile Wireless Sensor Networks when there are no anchor nodes or coordinates or distances available. We develop a passive, directional localization algorithm where each node must be aware of its position and orientation relative to the network. This variant is especially relevant for the applications in which mobile nodes are required to move in a collaborative manner. Our solution exactly approximates the location of each mobile sensor node by determining the components of the independently moving sensor node using geometric constructions, which in turn guarantees a scalable and range-free solution for the localization problem that does not require a high node density. Furthermore, based on our localization algorithm, we introduce the mechanism to preserve network formation during directed mobility in Mobile Sensor Networks. We provide a thorough evaluation of our approach and show that it’s stable over time for a respective speed and is applicable to dense as well as sparse deployment.
