Biography
Prof. Hamed is a US graduate with a Ph.D. in Transportation Planning from the University of Washington, Seattle, U.S.A. He is a former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. He has over 25 years of solid and professional experience. His professional career spans a wide range of expertise in Energy and Mineral Resources, Renewable Energy, Oil and Gas, LNG Infrastructure Facilities, Energy Efficiency, Energy Market Structure and Regulations, Electricity Market Structure and Fare Setting, Transportation Planning and Infrastructure, Organizational Change, Institutional Strengthening, Trade and Transport Facilitation and Logistics, Regulation and the Creation of Regulatory entities, Privatization and Public Private Partnership (PPP) schemes.
He has been involved in the design of a number of EU projects aimed at developing the PPP structure in Jordan. He has worked with international agencies like the EU, US AID, World Bank, DFID and international consulting firms. He has extensive experience in strategic planning and management skills.
Hamed joined Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in 1991 and worked as a Professor of Civil and Transportation Engineering. He published over 50 specialized scientific papers in distinguished journals in transportation policy and planning, travel demand forecasting, traffic safety, and modelling of public transport demand.
