Mohamed M. Sabry Aly is an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), in 2013. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at Stanford University from 2014 till 2017. His current research interests include system-level design and optimization of computing systems enabled by emerging technologies, with particular emphasis on computing systems for artificial intelligence. His work on system-level analysis on data-centric emerging systems has led to a US$100M DARPA program (Electronic Resurgence Initiative). He is a currently a co-lead in the flagship AME programmatic project (Hardware Software Co-optimization for Deep Learning)—a S$25M research program aiming to fabricate the world’s first 3D hardware platform for AI with new memory technologies. He has more than 60 peer-reviewed research articles in top tier journals and conference proceedings, including proceedings of the IEEE (2019), Computer magazine (2015), International solid-state circuits conference (2019), design automation and test in Europe (2015, 2014), conference on computer vision and pattern recognition (2019). He is also a consultant with Taiwan Semiconducting Company (TSMC) on developing roadmap for emerging device technologies. Dr. Aly was the recipient of the Swiss National Science Foundation Early Post-Doctoral Mobility Fellowship in 2013.
