Abstract
Accurate segmentation of weak-edge images like most medical images has been a challenging issue for the purpose of image analysis and understanding in general, and surgical intervention involving image guided surgery (IGS) in particular. Thus, in this paper, a novel hybrid segmentation technique for medical images is presented. It employs hybrid of multiple-thresholding and correlation matching. The results obtained showed 96.6 percent accuracy when compared with “ground truthâ€, and based on the level of accuracy, the segmentation technique can be applied to weak-edge images in general.
