Abstract
The vehicular networks attract the attention of the research community and the industrial community too. Indeed, the vehicular networks are used to offer several services known under the name of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Nevertheless, it is not easy to develop such systems; this is due to several constraints related to the vehicular networks such as the high variability of nodes topology due to the significant nodes mobility. This work approaches the problems of inter-vehicles communications in an urban environment. We propose a data harvesting solution adapted to a city environment, answering the constraints of the inter-vehicular communications as an intermittent connectivity, a frequent fragmentation of the network … This solution is a pull-based data collection protocols for vehicular sensor networks. To increase the data accessibility, our solutions take advantage of a replication mechanism. The simulation results show that this protocol can achieve significant performance benefits.
