Abstract A substrate integrated waveguide based slot array antenna operating at 80 GHz on low temperature co-fired ceramic substrate has been designed. Simulated S11 using CST MWS simulation package was -19 dB at 72 GHz and -28.3 dB at 80 GHz with impedance bandwidths of 4.7% and 1.2% respectively. The maximum gain was 5.1 dBi at 72 GHz. Furthermore, a protoype of the proposed antenna downscaled to 15 GHz has been fabricated and measured.
