Abstract Wireless optical links can considerably improve so far reached transmitted bit rates due to the wide bandwidths available. Nevertheless several propagation phenomena like fog scattering, thermal turbulences restrict their large implementation. Results from the measurement of fog attenuation were implemented in tool from lower frequency bands, in order to characterize a masking function generally used to find non-blocked connections from users within street canyons to the satellites.
