Welcome to the
International Congress on Engineering Technologies (EngiTek 2020). This event is intended to represent a major forum for researchers, professionals and students from all over the world to meet remotely to present their latest research results and to exchange new ideas and practical experiences.

At each conference, and based on paper review scores, the paper with the highest scores receives the Best Paper Award. This is an award to which only presented papers are eligible. The best paper award is usually delivered to the presenter of the winning paper at the main conference dinner. |

Scalable and Personalized Internet of Things for Smart Cities |
Summary | | The Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled unprecedented interactions with our physical world, with the aim to deliver a wide range of customizable services in smart cities.
With recent advancements in IoT technology, users are increasingly expecting these services to be intelligent and context-aware. Nevertheless, there is still no framework capable of delivering personalized IoT services on a large scale. For such a framework to be conceived, it is likely that technologies from many domains have to be utilized. This talk examines the readiness of the leading state-of-the-art technologies in several key fields for realizing the goal of a truly scalable and personalized IoT experience in the smart cities context. We discuss the important requirements and challenges for realizing this goal. Then, we identify the major approaches that can contribute to this goal and categorize them into: technologies for adaptive personalized sensing, scalable solutions for user-centric networking, and intelligence techniques that leverage context awareness and adaptability at the application and system levels.

Prof. Mohamed Ibnkahla, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada | Dr. Mohamed Ibnkahla joined the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada in 2015 as a Full Professor where he holds the Cisco Research Chair in Sensor Technology for the Internet of Things (IoT); and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)/Cisco Industrial Research Chair in Sensor Networks for IoT.
He obtained the Ph.D. degree and the Habilitation a Diriger des Recherches degree (HDR) from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse (INPT), Toulouse, France, in 1996 and 1998, respectively.
Prior to joining Carleton University, he has been a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, from 2000 to 2015.
Dr. Ibnkahla’s research interests include IoT, cybersecurity, Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning, sentiment analysis, and Next-generation Wireless Networks.
Over the past 10 years, Dr. Ibnkahla has been conducting multi-disciplinary research projects designing, developing and deploying Internet of Things in several domains including smart homes, e-health, cybersecurity, smart grid and sustainable energy, public safety, smart logistics, intelligent transportation systems, environment monitoring, and smart cities.
Dr. Ibnkahla is currently the Director of the Sensor Systems and Internet of Things Research Laboratory at Carleton university which is equipped with a state-of-the-art IoT testbed and a user experience platform for IoT systems.
He published 6 books and more than 80 peer-reviewed journal papers and book chapters, 20 technical reports, 120 conference papers, and 4 invention disclosures.
In the past 5 years he gave more than 30 keynote talks and invited seminars. He received the Leopold Escande Medal, 1997, France, and the Premier’s Research Excellence Award, Canada, 2001. He is the joint holder of 5 Best Paper Awards.
