Welcome to GMC-ElecEng 2020
Welcome to the 2020 Global Mosharaka Congress on Electrical Engineering (GMC-ElecEng 2020). This event is intended to represent a major forum for researchers, professionals and students from all over the world to meet remotely to present their latest research results and to exchange new ideas and practical experiences.

GMC-ElecEng 2020 is planned to feature special sessions, keynote talks and tutorial sessions by leading experts, paper presentations, poster shows, demo shows, discussion panels, as well as other interesting technical activities.

Spain has recently become the second most visited country in the world; mainly because of fabulous beaches, the culture, history and ancient buildings, which can be visited, and because of its marvelous weather along the year. The quality of the services presented to the tourists is very high, which makes visitors being very comfortable during their stay in the country.

Valencia is the third city of Spain with most population. It is the capital of the Valencia Community region. It was created in 138 b. C. Its large history, its new constructions in the area of the City of Arts and Sciences and its placement in the Mediterranean Sea, with large beautiful beaches, make it unique. The culture brings the tourists to one of the most wonderful places of Spain. Moreover, the Valencian gastronomy is well known all around the world (Valencian Paella, Horchata, etc.).

Advances in Deterministic Wireless Channel Characterization for IoT Applications

Speaker

Prof. Francisco Falcone, Public University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain

Dr. Francisco Falcone received his Telecommunication Engineering Degree (1999) and PhD in Communication Engineering (2005), both at the Public University of Navarre in Spain. From 1999 to 2000 he worked as Microwave Commissioning Engineer, Siemens-Italtel. From 2000 to 2008 he worked as Radio Network Engineer, Telefónica Móviles. In 2009 he co-founded Tafco Metawireless. From 2003 to 2009 he was also Assistant Lecturer at UPNA, becoming Associate Professor in 2009. His research area is artificial electromagnetic media, complex electromagnetic scenarios and wireless system analysis, with applications to context aware environments, Smart Cities and Smart Regions. He has over 500 contributions in journal and conference publications. He has been recipient of the CST Best Paper Award in 2003 and 2005, Best PhD in 2006 awarded by the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación, Doctorate award 2004-2006 awarded by UPNA, Juan Lopez de Peñalver Young Researcher Award 2010 awarded by the Royal Academy of Engineering of Spain and Premio Talgo 2012 for Technological Innovation.

Summary

There has been a steady growth in the implementation and adoption of context aware environments, with particular focus in Smart Cities and Smart regions. Large scale massive deployments, with flexible location and mobile links are leading to the use of multiple wireless communication systems in order to enable end to end connectivity. The deployment and operation of these wireless systems is challenging, owing to complex configuration of structural elements within the scenarios of operation, highly dynamic channels owing to mobility, interference handling or the constraints in the use of wearable devices. In this presentation we will analyze the challenges in wireless channel characterization to enable IoT applications. Different channel analysis techniques will be desribed, as well as application to different case studies within the scope of Smart Cities and Smart Regions.
