The purpose of this Keynote Talk is to provide the public and researchers with an overview of current research and applications of Spatial Big Data.
Managing Spatial Big Data is very challenging and has prompted researchers to reinvent approaches to store and process large spatial data sets in a way that effectively meets the needs of new users.
Many architectures have been proposed either by extending traditional Big Data platforms, or by creating new ones using data lake approaches. We will try throughout this Keynote Talk to show how spatial big data goals can be achieved by making use of parallel storage and processing, and by exploring new techniques such as spatial partitioning and indexing to optimize queries and exploration of spatial datasets.
