This paper presents a new approach to model Haar based Wavelet Packet Modulation HWPM systems. The new approach aims to increase the speed of traditional HWPM systems by reducing the number of arithmetic operations needed in system computation. The main idea of the new approach is to combine the wavelet filter convolution and up/down sampler computations together using butterfly notation similar to that used in FFT. The results obtained show that the proposed approach reduces the number of multiplications needed by 33.33% and the number of additions by 55.55%. The improvement introduced by the proposed approach was found to constant and independent on the number of HWPM points.
