Biography
Prof. Kouhsari received his BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 1980. He received his MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology, (UMIST), UK at 1984 and 1988 respectively, where he was supported with a maintenance grant by CEGB of U.K. He is an Academic staff member of Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran where he started his carrier from 1988. In 1998 he was a visiting Professor at University Of Toronto (UOT). He joined The HONG KONG Polytechnic University in Sept. 2015 as a visiting Professor while leaving the Amirkabir University for a Sabbatical Leave. Ge came back to his job at Amirkabir University of Technology as a full Professor.
He received many prestigious honors and awards during his carrier including 8th International KHARAZMI Festival AWARD 1995, 2nd grade in applied research, ISLAMIC DEVELOPMENT BANK (IDB) AWARD 1988, NATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION AWARD 2015 and his name is included in Marque's who is who in the world 1997.
His research and development interest is with power system simulation; somehow that he is the main developer of two worldwide well known simulation programs named PASHA ( http://www.tomcad.com ) and POUYA ( http://www.intelectri.com ).
Prof. Kouhsari has strong R&D and practical system design and operation collaboration with industry and his team simulated many plants including: Steel mill plants, Gas and Oil refinery plants, Chemical and Petrochemical plants, Water Pumping stations, Sugar plants, Utility Grids including the Iranian National Grid of about 70,000 MW of installed generation capacity and some of the existing Smart Grids around the world.
