Biography Born in Caracas, in 1967, Professor Castillo has a 27 years long academic life in the University of Los Andes, in Mérida, Venezuela, with a teaching and research position, for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, at the Architecture and Design Faculty. His Master degree in Seismic Engineering and Structural Dynamics was obtained (1999) in the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain, his doctoral degree in Architecture was also obtained in the same university in year 2005. Research topics cover seismic risk assessments in urban areas, natural multi-risk management in urban areas, seismic vulnerability assessment of engineered and non-engineered buildings, and seismic rehabilitation of architectural heritage buildings.
