Dr. Imad Afyouni is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the University of Sharjah, UAE. He is leading several research activities in two main research groups: Big Data Mining and Multimedia Research Group; and Machine Learning and Arabic Language Processing Research Group. He has previously worked as a Researcher and Principal Investigator at Wadi Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and before as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the American University of the Middle East, Kuwait. He received a Master degree in Computer Science from Joseph Fourier University in 2009 (Grenoble, France), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Naval Academy Research Institute in 2013 (Brest, France), where he worked as a teaching and research assistant from 2009 to 2013. His main research interests includes mobile/pervasive computing, spatio-temporal databases, location-based services, and serious games for ehealth.
