Stamatis Kalligeros received his Diploma Degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Technical University of Athens, Greece, in 1996 awarded with five years’ scholarship from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. MSc degree in Industrial Management with specialization in Energy Management & Environmental Protection from University of Piraeus, Greece, in 2000, awarded with scholarship from the University of Piraeus. Ph.D. degree in Fuels & Lubricants Technology from National Technical University of Athens, Greece, in 2002 awarded with scholarship from the National Technical University of Athens.
After a career in Industrial Energy sector as R&D manager (Engineering & Constructing a Biofuel Plant and a Fossil Fuels Plant) and in Public sector as an Advisor he elected Lecturer at Hellenic Naval Academy, Mechanics & Materials Division, Laboratory of Fuels & Lubricants from 2010. His current position is Assistant Professor and Director of the Fuels & Lubricants Laboratory responsible for its Overall Operations.
Additionally, he is also the Technical Conveyor of National Quality Infrastructure System - Hellenic Organization for Standardization (NQIS - ELOT) Technical Committee for Fuels, Lubricants, Petrochemical Industry and related products from 2006. National Contact Point (NCP) for standardization of Fuels (liquid, air and solid) to European Organization for Standardization (CEN). He is elected from the European Commission member of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum (ESSF) and member of the steering committee of the Sub Group of Advanced Biofuels (SGAB) of the European Sustainable Transport Forum (STF). Evaluator of the European Commission in various Research Programs (Framework 6th, 7th and HORIZON 2020).
His research areas cover the impacts of fuels in engine performance and in the environment, biofuels, alternative fuels, energy management, standardization of fuels and lubricants, quality assurance and biolubricants. He has published numerous highly cited research scientific work (over 1,600 citations) in well respective scientific journals and international conferences as well as in Greek national journals and conferences. Also, serves as member of the editorial team and as reviewer in well-respected international journals awarded for his contribution in the field of Energy.
