Biography
Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Salmiah Ahmad, started her career as a Project Engineer at Toyo Engineering and Construction (M) Sdn. Bhd, after receiving her B.Eng in Mechatronics Engineering from International Islamic University Malaysia in 2001. Later she received her M.EngSc in Electrical Engineering from the Curtin University of Technology, Australia in 2004. She completed her Ph.D. in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering from The University of Sheffield in 2010. Currently she is an Associate Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department - for Automation and Control Systems Engineering program, College of Engineering and Technology, University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), Doha, Qatar. She was previously served Department of Mechatronics and Department Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur for about 22 years. She has been appointed as ABET Program Evaluator (PEV) in 2025 and an accreditation panel for Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC), Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM) in 2012 until present. She has vast experiences to evaluate degree programs in Mechatronics and its related fields for the public and private universities. She is also a Professional Engineer (PEng), a Chartered Engineer (CEng) both obtained in 2016 and the corporate member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) from 2016, a senior member of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (SMIEEE), s senior member of International Society of Automation (ISA), a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM), life member of MySET (Malaysian Society of Engineering and Technology) and PERINTIS (Muslim Scientist Organization of Malaysia) and she has been awarded with ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) in 2022. He has been undergoing many pieces of training throughout her career and providing the trainings related to her academic background and experiences, involving undergraduate and postgraduate students, staff as well as external parties. Her current research interests include; Automation and Control Systems, Instrumentation and Process Control, Machine Learning for Signal Processing, Intelligent Systems, Mobile Robotics, Rehabilitation and Bio-signals, and Teaching and Learning in Engineering Education. In serving the community, she involves a lot in projects addressing the greater local communities. She aims to contribute the best and share her expertise with the industries and the communities in enhancing the betterment of everyone's life.
