**Dr. Shadi A. Alboon** is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics Engineering at the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Yarmouk University, Jordan. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering from Yarmouk University in 1999 and earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Optoelectronics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, USA, in 2005 and 2008, respectively.
Dr. Alboon began his academic career at Yarmouk University and later spent eight years at the American University of the Middle East in Kuwait, where he served as an Assistant and Associate Professor. His academic work covers photonics, optical communications, photonic nanojets, liquid-crystal devices, tunable optical filters, embedded systems, robotics, and engineering education.
Throughout his career, Dr. Alboon has contributed to university teaching, curriculum development, academic advising, and the supervision of numerous graduation projects. He has published journal articles, conference papers, and a specialized academic book in optoelectronic filtering. He is also actively involved in mentoring student teams and supporting their participation in scientific exhibitions, engineering competitions, and innovation-based projects.
Dr. Alboon has been a member of IEEE since 2005 and was elevated to IEEE Senior Member in 2014. He has held several academic and professional leadership roles, including conference scientific and technical-program committees, IEEE activities, university committees, and robotics initiatives. His academic journey reflects a sustained commitment to research, engineering education, student development, and the advancement of technology and innovation.
