Mónica Aguilar Igartua received her MSc and PhD degrees in telecommunication engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, in 1995 and 2000 respectively.
She is an Associate Professor and a member of the Telematic Services Group in the department of Telematic Engineering at the UPC. Since 1995 she has been lecturing on data transmission, networking and QoS provision, and currently also on multihop wireless networks. She has been involved in several public funded national research projects in the field of multimedia communications. Currently, she participates in the Spanish Consequence (Continuity of Service, Security and QoS for Transportation Systems) project. She is a member of the IEEE and the IEEE Communications Society. She got the best student paper award in the 14th IEEE international conference SoftCOM 2006.
Her research interests include design, analytical modelling and performance evaluation of multimedia services over heterogeneous networks. Her current work deals with the design of dynamic self-configured schemes to provide video-streaming services over multihop wireless ad hoc networks, such as VANETs and MANETs.
