Welcome to EngiTek 2020
Welcome to the 1st International Congress on Engineering Technologies (EngiTek 2020). This event is intended to represent a major forum for researchers, professionals and students from all over the world to meet remotely to present their latest research results and to exchange new ideas and practical experiences.

EngiTek 2020 is planned to feature special sessions, keynote talks and tutorial sessions by leading experts, paper presentations, poster shows, demo shows, discussion panels, as well as other interesting technical activities.


Coming to Jordan represents a unique opportunity to witness the embrace of history and future. As small in area as it is, Jordan has a rich history spanning thousands of years, a history that a tourist can only admire. Places like Petra and the Dead Sea are only examples of the many one-of-a-kind places to visit in Jordan. On top of all that, Jordan, as a peaceful country in a turbulent area, enjoys extreme levels of safety and security. Jordanian people are internationally known for generosity, hospitality and cultural awareness and tolerance.

Digitalizing dentistry – from patient-specific images to clinical practice

Prof. Qing Li, University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia

Dr Qing Li received his PhD degree from the University of Sydney in 2000. He was a postdoc fellow in Cornell University, USA. He was then an Australian Research Council (ARC) APD Fellow in 2001-03 and Future fellow in 2013-2017. Qing Li joined the University of Sydney as a faculty member in 2006 and he is now a Professor in the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering.

Qing is interested in biomedical modelling, computational biomechanics and design optimization. He is currently serving in editorial panels for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (review editor), Biofabrication, PLoS One. Qing is the Vice President of International Society of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (ISSMO) and in the member of General Council for International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM). He was a recipient of APACM Computational Mechanics Award in 2016. Qing published over 300 scientific articles with an h-Index of 64.

Summary

High resolution CT and/or MRI imagines have become routine for numerous dental procedures nowadays. Apart from the diagnosing purposes, these images can be used for further applications in clinical analysis and surgical planning. One critical issue remains to be tackled is computational modelling of prosthetic devices and integration with prosthetic apparatus in different surgical procedures. This presentation aims to exemplify a number of clinical cases in orthodontics, prosthodontics and orofacial reconstruction through computational modelling techniques. Longitudinal CT images are acquired from clinical follow-up and further used for creating time-dependent computational models. Since majority of dental tissues and prostheses bears mechanical loading in functioning, quantitative biomechanical analysis then follows for tracking and predicting biological responses of bony tissues over time. Such predictive models are validated through longitudinal images in clinical follow-ups, thereby forming a biomechanical basis for surgical planning. The computational models and predictive functionality of such a strategy well demonstrate the efficacy and potential of digitalizing dentistry.
