Dr. Abdallah Shami is an Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Western Ontario and Director of the Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory. He received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the City University of New York, USA. Currently he is involved in a wide range of research activities in the computer networking and services areas, and his work has been supported by the NSERC, CFI, OCE, IBM, BroadBand Wizard, and Tellus Corp. In addition, he also received the Bell Canada Fellowship Award in 2011 for his work in the area of computer networks.
Dr. Shami is a Senior Member of the IEEE. He is an Associate Editor for the IEEE Communications Letters journal since 2005. In addition, he serves as an Associate Editor for Wiley International journal of Communication Systems, Associate Editor for The Journal of Computer Systems, Networks, and Communications 2007-2011, and Editor for Journal of Internet Technology since 2007. Moreover, he was the General Chair for the International Conference on Communications and Information Technology (ICCIT-2011) and the General Chair for the International Conference on Multimedia Computing and Information Technology (MCIT-2010). Furthermore, he chaired several symposiums at International conferences. Dr. Shami is Co-Chair for the Next Generation Internet Symposium at IEEE GlobeCom 2012.
