Ajay Ogirala received his Masters in Electrical Engineering (2007) and Ph.D degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2009) from University of Pittsburgh. He is presently working as a Research Associate and Instructor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and School of Information Sciences at University of Pittsburgh and also associated with the RFID Center of Excellence. He is currently co-chairing the IEEE communications society Pittsburgh chapter, serving as the associate editor for International Journal of Computers and Applications, ACTA Press, Communications, ACTA Press and International Journal of Radio Frequency Identification Technology and Applications, Inderscience Publications. His primary focus was to aid in the development of the ISO 18000-7 standard for active RFID communication, and developing automated conformance and interoperability test platforms. His current research efforts include standardization of test procedures (in vitro and in vivo) to test CRMDs for interference from RFID, development of interference mitigation techniques and human torso conductivity characterization for Wireless Body Area Network development and design of Passive Implantable Execution Circuits. He was also awarded the Pitt Innovator Award in 2009 and 2010 for his research in the field of RFID.
