Dr. Haris Haralambous is a Lecturer with the faculty of Computer Engineering. He has a Ph.D in Digital Communications (2002) from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). with emphasis on HF Communications. His main focus during his Ph.D was the extension of the existing three-site European occupancy models into four-site model specifications which effectively enables the mapping of occupancy over a significant area over northern Europe. He has been employed at Frederick University since September 2004. Prior to his appointment, he worked as a Research Associate with the UMIST HF research group leading an investigation into existing trends in the utilisation of the HF spectrum. He was one of the Cyprus representatives on the European COST 296 action, “Mitigation of Ionospheric Effects on Radio Systems” participating in Work Package 2.3 on HF Spectrum management. He is the principal investigator of the project “Installation and operation of an ionospheric monitoring station“ for supporting the acquisition, elaboration, evaluation, dissemination and archiving of ionospheric observations above Cyprus.
