Biography
Dr. Chrysostomou has received a B.Eng. in Electronic & Electrical Engineering, with First Class Honours, and M.Sc.in Telematics (Telecommunications & Software), from the University of Surrey, U.K., in 1998 and 1999 respectively. He received the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus in 2006 (PhD Dissertation: “Fuzzy Logic Based AQM Congestion Control in TCP/IP Networks”).
Since October 2008, he has been with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Frederick University, Cyprus, at the rank of Lecturer. He is the Coordinator of the Networks and Systems academic domain unit within the Department. Prior to his current appointment he served in a number of positions in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus from September 1999 until September 2008 (he worked as a research associate and a special scientist in several research projects, and further, he worked as a Special Teaching Staff, and also as a Visiting Lecturer).
Currently he serves as one of the two Cyprus Delegates of the Management Committee of the European Concerted Research Action IC0906 ("Wireless Networking for Moving Objects"). He actively serves as a member of several Technical Program Committees of international conferences and workshops, and also as a referee in international scientific journals and conferences. He is also a member of ACM and IEEE. He is involved in the organization of international conferences.
His research interests include Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning in fixed/wired and mobile/wireless networks by developing congestion control techniques based on computational intelligence. His current work focuses in the development of adaptive QoS-aware medium access control in vehicular ad hoc networks. Further, of major importance is the investigation of the application of networking principles and techniques in the field of high performance computer architecture (network-on-chip architectures).
