Biography Francisco Castells was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1976. He received the M.Eng. degree in telecommunications engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV) in 2000. After working in the telecommunications manufacturing industry for Alcatel SEL AG in Germany (2000-2001), he received the Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering from the UPV in 2006. He is currently a Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics Engineering, UPV, where he is also a member of the Bioengineering Research Group at ITACA Institute. Currently his research interests involve signal processing techniques for both biomedical and audio applications. .
