Divanilson Rodrigo de Sousa Campelo is currently a “Professor Adjunto” (Assistant Professor) of the Computer Science Department of Centro de Informática (CIn) at Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Recife, Brazil. Before joining CIn-UFPE, he was a “Professor Adjunto” of the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Brasilia (UnB), Brasilia, Brazil. Prof. Campelo was a Visiting Assistant Professor of the Electrical Engineering Department at Stanford University, Stanford, USA, from Sep. 2008 to Dec. 2009. He was also an Assistant Professor of the Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, Sao Paulo Brazil, from Feb. 2007 to Mar 2010 (on academic leave from Sep. 2008 to Feb. 2010 to visit Stanford University). He was also a Systems Engineer at Nortel Networks in Sao Paulo in 2000 and 2001. Prof. Campelo holds the Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from UFPE in 1998, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees also in Electrical Engineering from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, Brazil, in 2001 and 2006, respectively. He is currently a Research Fellow of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in Brazil. Prof. Campelo is a co-recipient of the Best Paper Award at IEEE GLOBECOM 2009 (2nd GreenComm), Hawaii, USA (paper: "Sleep mode for energy saving PONs: Advantages and drawbacks"). His research interests are in optical communications, computer networking, telecommunication networks and computer systems.
