Biography
Roberto Llorente received the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunication Engineering and the Ph.D. degree from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Spain, in 1998 and 2006, respectively. Since then, he has been in research positions within the university, and in 2002 he joined the Nanophotonics Technology Center (NTC) of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia .
Currently, he is Associate Professor, teaching radio-communications-related subjects, and he is Head of the Optical Systems and Networks Unit at the NTC. He has been leading NTC activities in the European projects FP5-IST-TOPRATE and FP6-IST-UROOF. He has coordinated the project FP7-IST-UCELLS, and currently is coordinating the FP7-ICT-FIVER project (www.ict-fiver.eu) altogether other national research initiatives. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 papers in leading international journals and conferences and has authored three patents. His current research interest includes optical and electro-optical processing techniques applied to high efficiency, large capacity and long range integrated optical wireless-optical access networks.
