Tiago Alves received the “Licenciatura” and Ph.D degrees in Electrical and Computers Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 2006 and 2011, respectively. He is currently a researcher at the Group of Research on Optical Fibre Telecommunication Systems, of Instituto de Telecomunicações, Lisbon site, Portugal. Along the last 6 years, he has contributed with more than 40 papers to international conferences and journals. He participated in the National Project “Super High-capacity Optical Transmission Systems” (SHOTS), in the field of high-speed WDM systems, in the European Projects e-Photon one+ and “Ultra-wide Band Real-Time Interference Monitoring and Cellular Management Strategies” (UCELLS). Currently, he is integrated in the National Project “Transmission of Ultra Wide-Band Radio Signals over Optical Fibre” (TURBO) and in the European Project “Fully-Converged Quintuple-Play Integrated Optical-Wireless Access Architectures” (FIVER). His current areas of interest are fibre optic communication systems and networks.
