Muhammad Zeeshan Shakir (M'03) received B.E. degree in electrical engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan, in 2002. He obtained M.Sc. in Communications, Control and Digital Signal Processing (CCDSP) and Ph.D. in electrical engineering degrees, in 2005 and 2010 respectively from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. From Jan 2006-Jan 2009, he has been a recipient of industrial scholarship jointly sponsored by University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and Picsel Technologies Ltd., Glasgow. In 2009, he joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, where he was a recipient of Collaborative Travel Fund (CTF) award from KAUST Global Collaborative Research (GCR). Dr. Shakir holds visiting researcher appointment at Center for Communication System Research (CCSR) at University of Surrey, UK.
In Jul 2012, Dr. Shakir joined Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) where his research interests are in the areas of performance analysis of wireless communication systems which particularly include Heterogeneous network, cooperative communications, information theoretic analysis for multi-cell cellular networks and spectrum sensing for Cognitive radios. Dr. Shakir has published more than 25 technical conference and journal papers and contributed three book chapters. At present, he is serving as secretary to IEEE DySPAN 1900.7 group since Jan 2012 where he is involved in standardization of project titled ``radio interface for white space dynamic spectrum access radio systems supporting fixed and mobile operation."
