Stanley S. Ipson was born in Leeds, in the UK in 1947. He received a BSc in Applied Physics in 1969 and a PhD in theoretical Nuclear Physics awarded in 1975 from the University of Bradford.
Since 1972 he has been a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the University of Bradford. His main research focus is imaging and has included, amongst other fields, extracting 3D information from uncalibrated images, remote sensing, deblurring infrared and millimetre wave images; optical control of industrial machinery; video camera surveillance; texture analysis; digital image watermarking; and a variety of pattern recognition applications. Currently his research interests lie in solar and medical imaging He has been principal investigator for a number of imaging-related projects, receiving funding from EPSRC, DERA, EU, and several industrial research contracts. He has supervised around 33 completed PhD projects and held two patents. His publications include invited chapters for four books, around 86 refereed publications and around 50 conference presentations.
