Biography
Dr. Elyes Bdira holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada in 1995. an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and B.S. (honors) in Electrical Engineering, from University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida.
In the fall of 2012, he Joined the department of Electronics and Communications Engineering, American University of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. Prior to that he had the following employment history:
Between 2009 and 2012 he was with Taibah University, Medina, Saudi Arabia, and a Research Scientist in the Satellite communication Lab, Queen’s University, Canada. Between 2002 and 2008: he was with the Electrical & Computer Engineering department of the university of Sharjah, UAE.
Before 2002, Dr. Bdira was a Senior Architect in the Wireless Division of Nortel Networks, Ottawa, Canada.(1998-2001) and a Senior System Engineer, in the Wireless Division of NEC-America, Irving, Texas, USA (1996-1997). Prior to that, he had also positions as a Research Associate, in INRS-Telecom, University of Quebec, Canada, and Research Associate and Instructor in Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
Dr. Bdira is a Senior Member IEEE since 2006 and received an award for best EE faculty in 2007 and a research Achievement award from Queens University Satellite communication research lab in 2009.
His current Research Interests are in Self-Configuring and Cognitive Wireless Sensor Networks with applications in Agriculture, Environment, Transportations, Health Services and Asset Management. He also conducted research in the general wireless area with contributions in the following subjects: Macro-Diversity techniques in Multihop 4G cellular networks, Simulation and Modeling of Cellular Channels and Mobile Ad-Hoc and WS Networks, Performance of Dynamic Resource Allocation algorithms for Wireless Multimedia Service, New Wireless Network Architectures and Protocols.
