Babak Hossein Khalaj received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University
of Technology (SUT), Tehran, Iran, in 1989 and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering
from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, in 1992 and 1995, respectively. At Stanford, he has been a member of pioneering
team exploring use of MIMO architectures and subspace processing in communication networks.
In 1995, he joined KLA-Tencor as a Senior Algorithm Designer, working on advanced processing
techniques for signal estimation. From 1996 to 1999, he was with Advanced Fiber Communications and then
Ikanos Communications working on advanced broadband modem architectures. From 1998 to 1999, he was the Coeditor of the
Special Compatibility Standard Draft for the ANSI-T1E1 Group. Since 2000, he joined the faculty of Electrical Engineering
at Sharif Unviersity of Technolgy where he is currently the Director of Communications Group.
From 2006 to 2008, he was a Visiting Professor
with the Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Técnicas de Gipuzkoa (CEIT), San
Sebastian, Spain and Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. He is the author of many papers
in signal processing and digital communications. He is the holder of two U.S.
patents and the Fellow of Alexander von Humboldt.
