Biography Chiharu Ishii was born in Sapporo, Japan, in 1969. He received the Dr. Eng. degree in mechanical engineering from Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan, in 1997. He was at Ashikaga Institute of Technology between 1997 and 2002, at Kogakuin University between 2002 and 2009, and at Shibaura Institute of Technology between 2009 and 2010. Since 2010, he has been at Hosei University, Tokyo, where he is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engineering. His main teaching activities involve mechatronics, mathematics, and engineering design, and his research interests include medical robotics, welfare robotics and robust control.
