Biography
Prof. Carles Ferrer holds a Ph.D. on Computer Science – specialty Microelectronics in 1989 and a BSC and an MSC both on Physical Science in 1984 and 1986 respectively, all from Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He is full professor since 2007 and he was associate professor from 1989 until 2007 at the Microelectronics and Electronics Systems Department of the same University and he is associate researcher at the Microelectronics National Center, IMB-CNM from the Spanish High Council for Scientific Research State Agency located in the same campus. He was a member in the management committee of the EU Cost Action IC1024 TRUDEVICE on Trustworthy Manufacturing and he participates also in EU Cost Action FA1308 DAIRY CARE on in Dairy Animal Health and Welfare. He is also leading the integrated circuit and systems design group (DCSI) at UAB and his main areas of research are analog-digital ROIC sensors interface design and control and communication circuit development with embedded systems integration for IoT platform development applied to several areas of like industrial, transportation, livestock farming, aerospace, defense and security including navigation and positioning aspects. These activities have been realized in collaboration with the IMB-CNM (CSIC) and AEInnova (Alternative Energy Innovations, S.L.) spin-off company where he is one of its co-founders and he holds the Chief Science Officier participating as IP in more of 25 National and European projects 7FPM, ENIAC, ARTEMIS, etc. and European contracts with ESA and EDA.
