His teaching has been mainly in the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería (ESI) of the University of Almeria. He served as Director of the Secretariat for International Promotion in the Vicechancellorship for the International Affairs from Jan. 2018 and still continues. His research career has been carried out within the Supercomputing:Algorithms research group at the Dep. of Informatics (UAL), and currently in the research group Categories, Computing and Ring theory (mathematics and computation group) he also shared research within the multidisciplinar group ECsens (http://ecsens.ugr.es/). He is a member of the Centro de Investigación en Agrosistemas Intensivos Mediterráneos y Biotecnología Agroalimentaria at Universidad of Almería (CIAIMBITAL - UAL). His research was initially devoted to parallel computers, developing paradigms for boosting parallel programing models under several projects from Plan Nacional I+D+i. His research evolved, thanks to the cooperation with other groups at UAL and UGR, toward the intellectual property protection of digital hardware and the application of cryptography and parallelism to several fields, from IPTV solutions to, more recently, sensor networks with highly efficient key exchange protocols for embedded nodes (DITEC UGR research group). Research in colorimetry systems and biosensors is also developed t
