Biography
I am a teacher in Escola Superior de Tecnologia of Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco since 1997. During this time I had the opportunity to teach several subjects like:
• Logic;
• Computational mathematics;
• Artificial intelligence;
• Programing languages.
and also to supervise some undergraduate projects.
More recently some of those projects were integrated into a bigger project related with inclusive (or accessible) tourism. The results achieved by this larger project were published in two journals and in the proceedings of an international congress.
The work consists on the design and implementation of a common framework for development of accessible tourism related applications. We also worked on the development of several applications that aim to support people with impairments on their tourism activities.
I concluded my Phd in Computer Science in 2013. My PhD dissertation was entitled Part-of-speech tagging using evolutionary computation. In this work I explored the use of genetic algorithms and particle swarm optimization to solve the part-of-speech tagging problem, which is one of the tasks that must be performed in order to process natural language.
