Biography
I studied Computer Science and Economics at the Saarland University, Saarbrücken, Germany, and received a Diploma in degree in 1995.
During my studies I have been working at the Intelligent User Interfaces department of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) headed by Prof Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. W. Wahlster. Afterwards I have joined the Siemens Telecooperation Center, where I worked from 1995 until 1999 in the area of multimedia communication.
In 1999 I have received my PhD in Computer Science from the Saarland University. In the same year I have moved to the USA, where I have been working in the area of mobile applications for the “Multimedia Department†of “Siemens Corporate Research†in Princeton, New Jersey until 2001.
Since 2001 I am a full Professor for Multimedia at the University of Applied Sciences in Trier and responsible for the international relations of the Computer Science department. My main research focuses are mobile and ubiquitous applications.
From 2003 - 2005 I have been also dean of the Information Systems department of the private Saarland University of Cooperative Education.
Since 2006 I am head of the committee for International affairs of the University of Applied Sciences in Trier and the academic director of the International Affairs Office. As part of my position I am in charge of the international relations of the University. I coordinate the relations to the foreign partner universities, which includes regular visits and participations of international meetings and workshops.
Since 2008 I am head of the “Digital Media and Computer Games†program. Furthermore I have been working for the accreditation agency AQAS as a reviewer.
