Biography
Dr. Nael Barakat is currently Professor and Chair of Mechanical Engineering, University of Texas at Tyler. He is a registered professional engineer in Ontario, Canada, and a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). His areas of interest include Controls, Robotics, Automation, Systems dynamics and Integration, Mechatronics and Energy Harvesting, as well as Engineering Ethics, professionalism, and Education.
Dr. Barakat's professional activities include: serving currently as an ABET evaluator, Vice chair of the NIEE, Chair of the ASME Technology and Society Division, Member of the executive board of the ASME management Division, as well as having served as the chair of the ASEE Ethics Division.
