Biography
Dr Behrooz Saghafi is a highway engineer at Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure, the UK, working on key highway improvement schemes in Manchester. He has over 14 years of activity and work experience in the field of transportation infrastructures, particularly pavements, in the capacity of design, materials, evaluation and management in both aspects of research and industry in the UK and Iran. Priorly, he worked in the sector of structures for three years. In addition to his works on several research projects on highway and airport pavement materials, maintenance and management, funded through industrial or governmental bodies in the UK and Iran, he has experienced highway and airport project management and design. Behrooz has been a high profile lecturer both in the UK and Iran and has managed publication of over 40 journal and conference papers, books and proceedings. He has invented a novel material for stabilising quarry waste products (which has resulted in development of a research stream in the UK), a new mechanistic procedure for UK motorway and trunk road thin pavement management, contributed to introducing novel pavement materials to the Iranian market and co-founded and co-edited International Journal of Transportation Engineering.
