Roberto Garello received the Laurea in Ingegneria
Elettronica degree (summa cum laude) and
the Dottorato di Ricerca in Ingegneria Elettronica,
both from the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 1990 and
1994, respectively. From 1994 to 1997, he was a Design Engineer at
the Radio Link Laboratory of Marconi Communications,
Genova, Italy, working on high-rate all-digital
modems and error-control scheme design. From 1998
to 2001, he was an Associate Professor at the University
of Ancona, Italy. Since November 2001, he has been an Associate Professor at the Politecnico di Torino, where from 2006 to
2008, he served as Coordinator of the Communication Engineering degree. He
has collaborated with national and international telecom companies. His main
research interests are digital communication systems (xDSL, space links, indoor
positioning), cognitive radio networks, channel coding, and signal processing
applications to genomics and physics.
