Biography
Manuel José Cabral dos Santos Reis graduated in Electrical Engineering at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal in 1991. He obtained his Master’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications, branch of Digital Signal Processing, University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 1996. His PhD, in Electrical Engineering, was also obtained from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 2001. He is presently Associate Professor with Agregação in the UTAD’s Electrical Engineering Department. His research interests include the lines: signal & image processing and applications; study and development of devices & systems for friendly smart environments; development of multimedia-based teaching/learning methods and tools, with particular emphasis on the use of the Internet. He is the coordinator of the Signal Processing and Biotelemetry group, which includes researchers from the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering of Porto (INESC-TEC, pole of UTAD) and from the Institute of Electronics and Telematics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA), where he is a research member. He is also a research contributor of the “Multidisciplinary Research Group IFPA-Santarém-Brazil (IFPA)”, since August 2012, at the “Computing in Education” research line, conducting studies on the use of IT and teaching methodologies using the Computer as a medium in the teaching-learning process.
