Distribution Management Systems Integration of Distributed Energy Resources
Biography
I am assistant Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department, the University of Jordan since Sep 2016. My research area focuses on techno-economic impacts studies of small to medium scale low carbon technologies in MV and LV distribution networks, and the development of advanced smart grid control algorithms in smart distribution networks. My research interest also includes pricing of distribution networks and the role of storage in the planning and operation of future power system. I am also a member of the supervision team at the University of Jordan with the aim to install 16 MW PV project.
Prior to joining the University of Jordan, I was a Research Associate in Network Integration of PV, part of the UK EPSRC project “Whole System Impacts and Socio-economics of wide scale PV integration (WISE PV)” at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Manchester, UK (May 2015 – Aug 2016). I received Ph.D. degree in Electrical Energy and Power Systems from the University of Manchester, UK, in April 2015 with thesis titled “Control of Distributed Generation and Storage: Operation and Planning Perspectives”.
Between 2005 and 2011 (about 6 years), I was working as consultant and head of power system studies in Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO) in Jordan. I was mainly responsible to perform techno-economic master plan of MV and LV distribution networks. I was also involved in establishing the technical regulatory department and the Geographical Information System (GIS) section at EDCO. My industrial experience also includes building capacity to implement regulation codes including Distribution Performance Standard and Distribution Code within EDCO license area.
