[EN] Paulo Almeida, was born in Viseu, Portugal and obtained the Licenciatura (5 years degree) (bachelor's) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2007 from the University of Coimbra. Since 2007, he is a researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações – pole of Coimbra. In 2009, he obtained the master's degree from the University of Coimbra, integrated in the RoFnet project. From the end of 2009 to 2014 he was a doctoral student in Electrical and Computer Engineering in the specialty of Telecommunications at the University of Coimbra. As a doctoral student, he was a visiting researcher at the Telecommunication Laboratory of the Federal University of Espírito Santo, Brazil. In 2016, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the FOTON Institute (http://foton.cnrs.fr/v2016/?lang=fr), University of Rennes 1, France. After this period in France, he returned to Portugal and since February 2017 he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações – pole of Coimbra. Since september 2018, he has been an invited assistant professor at the University of Coimbra.
He is a member of IEEE and his Photonics Society as well as a member of OSA, being a reviewer of the main journals in his area of expertise.
