Biography
Ayman M. Eldeib, Ph.D. is a senior IEEE member and a professor at Systems and Biomedical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt. Received his Ph.D. degree in 1995 and have valuable technical, academic, and industrial skills that produced many research papers and three USA patents. Served as research scientist and the principal investigator of a medical imaging research project at Electrical Engineering Department, University of Louisville (UofL), KY. Served as the PI of the project “Nerve Locator Design Enhancement, Manufacturing & CE Marking” sponsored by Information Technology Industry Development Agency, ITIDA - Ministry Of Communications and Information Technology, MCIT, Egypt.
Served as a reviewer for several grants, international conferences, and journals. Served as the chair/co-chair of several sessions of international conferences. Served as the scientific program chair of CIBEC 2012 conference that is the 6th Cairo International Conference on Biomedical Engineering, sponsored by the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, December 2012 in Cairo, Egypt. Served as the chair of CIBEC 2018 conference that is the 9th Cairo International Conference on Biomedical Engineering, sponsored by the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, December 2018 in Cairo, Egypt.
My experience is not limited to academia, but also hands-on experience working as a trusted provider of consulting services to many healthcare organizations including the Cairo University medicine college (6500 beds) that has all medicine branches. Working as a leader at the CASBEC center “www.casbec.com.eg” that provides a wide range of biomedical, ICT, healthcare consultancy services, training, and community services. Profitoriented management experience with proven technical, managerial, and business skills.
Servied as the cooridinator of OpenMed project that is an international cooperation project co–funded by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (HE) programme of the European Union during the period 15 October 2015 – 14 October 2018 involving five partners from Europe and nine from South–Mediterranean (S–M) countries (Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Palestine). The overarching goal of OpenMed is to raise awareness and facilitate the adoption of Open Educational Practices (OEP) and Open Educational Resources (OER) in the S–M countries, with a particular focus on Higher Education (HE). OpenMed emphasises the idea of breaking boundaries and building bridges that expand the opportunities for any citizen to benefit from universities as a source of knowledge.
