Segismundo Samuel Izquierdo Millán (Santander, 1972) is an associate professor at the Business Management (Organización de Empresas) department of Universidad de Valladolid, specialized in evolutionary game theory and Industrial Organization. Between 1998 and 2001 he was a business consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, developing projects in Madrid, London and Prague, and has since been a lecturer in charge of different university courses, mainly on microeconomics, business management and information systems.
His research in mainly focused on economic and social aspects of social interactions, using techniques from evolutionary game theory, computational simulation, stochastic processes and artificial intelligence. His PhD dissertation, which obtained a special mention from Universidad de Valladolid, dealt with System Identification and Econometrics.
He has been a visiting researcher at several prestigious institutions, and has been able to work with some of the leading names in Economics and evolutionary game theory.
He has published in recognized journals such as Games and Economic Behavior, Journal of Theoretical Biology, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Business Research, or Games. He is also co-author of several free software programs widely used for research in evolutionary game theory, such as ABED and EvoDyn (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.softx.2018.07.006).
