Biography
Dr. Sajjad Hussain Qureshi is a distinguished academic and industry professional with over 24 years of experience spanning artificial intelligence, digital transformation, enterprise IT systems, and precision agriculture. Currently serving as Additional Director (IT) at Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO), Pakistan, he leads large-scale digital transformation initiatives, enterprise system modernization, and data-driven decision-making frameworks for one of the country’s major electricity distribution companies.
Dr. Qureshi holds a rare combination of interdisciplinary qualifications, including two PhDs, one in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing) and another in Agriculture (Plant Breeding and Genetics) along with an MBA in Human Resource Management. His academic journey reflects a unique integration of computational intelligence and agricultural sciences, enabling him to work at the intersection of AI, computer vision, and smart agriculture systems.
His research focuses on the application of deep learning and machine learning techniques in plant disease detection, precision agriculture, and image-based analysis, particularly in maize crop disease classification. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals, contributing significantly to the advancement of AI-driven agricultural solutions.
In his professional career at MEPCO, Dr. Qureshi has played a pivotal role in implementing advanced technologies such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), smart billing systems, enterprise MIS platforms, and database modernization. He has successfully led the migration of legacy systems to modern architectures, enhanced cybersecurity frameworks, and improved operational efficiency for millions of consumers.
Earlier in his career, he served as a lecturer, research associate, and software developer, gaining experience in teaching, research, and system development. His work bridges academia and industry, demonstrating a strong commitment to innovation, capacity building, and technological advancement.
Dr. Qureshi is also an active contributor to the research community, serving as a reviewer for national research funding bodies and participating in international conferences. His multidisciplinary expertise positions him as a leader in AI-driven digital transformation and smart agriculture innovation.
