Prof. Halim is a passionate computer scientist, educator, and academic leader with a deep commitment to research, teaching, and academic management. He currently serves as a Full Professor at the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, a premier engineering and computing university in Taiwan, where he teaches courses in computing and AI to both undergraduate and graduate students.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Prof. Halim leads two ongoing funded research projects in collaboration with international institutions from the USA and France. His research primarily spans Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Affective Computing. Prof. Halim has published over 115 research papers in esteemed journals, maintains an h-index of 29, and has completed five funded research projects. His publication record includes 81 articles in high-impact factor journals, with a cumulative Impact Factor (IF) exceeding 452.003, of which 41.18% are in top-tier (Q1) journals. To date, he has successfully supervised four Ph.D. and 32 MS graduates and continues to mentor future scholars in their academic journeys.
His contributions to academia have earned him several prestigious awards, including the national-level HEC Best University Teacher Award (BUTA)-2016, the Research Productivity Award-2017 from the Pakistan Council of Science and Technology, and recognition as a COMSTECH Distinguished International Scholar. He also serves as an Associate Editor for the prestigious IEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence and Springer’s International Journal of Machine Learning and Cybernetics.
Prof. Halim's work extends into curriculum development, quality assurance, accreditation, and exam moderation committees, contributing to the continuous improvement of academic standards in higher education. Additionally, he holds professional memberships with the IEEE (as a Senior Member) and the ACM.
Beyond his academic endeavors, Prof. Halim possesses industry experience as a Software Engineer at Techlogix (Limited), where he worked on IBM workflows, Tivoli software, and .Net frameworks. This experience provided him with a solid foundation in delivering enterprise-level IT solutions.
