Biography
Dr. Mohamed Yacine KHELIOUEN is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Blida 1, Algeria. He is an architect, academic, and researcher with expertise in architecture, urban planning, earthquake-resistant construction, natural hazards, and urban resilience.
His academic background includes an Architecture degree from the Polytechnic School of Architecture and Urban Planning (EPAU) in Algiers, a Magister degree and a PhD from the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene (USTHB), Algiers. He also holds a Diplôme d’études approfondies (DEA) in earthquake-resistant construction from the School of Architecture of Marseille, France, and a Research Master's degree in Urban Planning and Smart Cities from Aix-en-Provence, France.
With more than twenty years of experience in research and disaster risk awareness, his work focuses primarily on seismic vulnerability assessment of the built environment, natural hazard prevention, urban resilience, and the integration of disaster risk reduction into urban planning and development processes.
He has authored several scientific publications based on his academic research and has participated in national and international scientific conferences. His research uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis to assess the vulnerability of buildings, infrastructure, and road networks to seismic hazards.
