Dr Wei Liu was born in China in 1974. He received his B.Sc. degree in space physics in 1996, L.L.B. degree in intellectual property law in 1997, both from Peking University, China, M.Sc. degree from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Hong Kong, in 2001, and Ph.D. degree in 2003 from the Communications Research Group, School of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton, UK. He then served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the same group and later in the Communications and Signal Processing Group, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Imperial College London. Since 2005, he has been working at the Communications Research Group, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Sheffield, UK, as a Lecturer. His research interests are mainly in sensor array signal processing (beamforming, direction of arrival estimation, localisation and tracking), blind signal processing (source separation and extraction), multirate signal processing, and their applications to wireless communications. He has published more than 90 journal and conference papers and a monograph titled Wideband Beamforming: Concepts and Techniques (Wiley 2010).
