Jianmin Gong received the Ph.D. degree from University of Electronic Science and Technology, Chengdu, China, in 1989, and the Ph.D. degree from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
From 1989 to 1990, he was a lecturer at Southwest Jiaotong University. From 1990 to 1992, he held a research fellowship at Milan University and Legnaro National Lab. From 1992 to 1998, he was back to Southwest Jiaotong University and worked as an associate professor in 1993 and full professor in 1998. He received the Third Prize of Science and Technology Progress from National Education Committee in 1997. From 1998 to 1999, he visited Milan University again. From 1999 to 2000, he came back to Southwest Jiaotong University. He received Zhan Tianyou Young Prize from the Zhan Tianyou Foundation of Railway Scientific Development in 1999. From 2000 to 2001, he worked at Comprod Communication Inc. as a project engineer. From 2001 to 2005, he had a Ph.D. program at Concordia University. From 2005, he has been working at Jinan University as a full professor. His current research interests are wireless communications, antennas, and high power microwave generators.
