Spyros Skiadopoulos was born in Piraeus in 1972. He completed his B.Sc. studies in Physics in the Department of Physics of the University of Thessaloniki (1995). He completed his M.Sc. (1997), and PhD studies (2003), in Medical Physics in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Patras. He then worked as a PostDoc researcher funded by National and European Programs. He holds a professional license as a Medical Radiation Physicist (2000) and as a Medical Physicist (1998). He was a postgraduate researcher funded by the research program “Pythagoras I – Funding for Research groups of the University of Patras” for a project entitled “Development of an automated wavelet-based enhancement method for increasing the detectability of lesions in dense breast parenchyma in mammographic image”, under the supervision of Professor George Panayiotakis (01/04/2004 - 30/09/2006). His research interests lie in the field of Medical Radiation Physics and specifically in issues concerning medical image processing, analysis and evaluation, Computer-Aided Detection and Diagnosis, performance evaluation of diagnostic systems, as well as patient and occupational dosimetry from ionizing radiation. His scientific work is internationally recognized, since he is a reviewer in international scientific journals. The last decade, he has received more than 80 citations, with at least 40 of them being from other authors.
